Apply for or renew a Blue Badge
Please ensure you are eligible and can provide the required documents before applying.
Do also take the time to read the guidance notes (PDF, 5.2 MB) before you apply. This will support you to complete your application and will help us to fully process your information.
You will need the following to hand before you apply for your Blue Badge:
- a colour passport style photo
- your National Insurance number
- a debit/credit card to supply a payment of £10 (this will be refunded if you are not eligible)
You can apply for a Blue Badge for yourself or on behalf of another person, please put the application in the name of the person needing a Blue Badge. The badge holder may use it in any vehicle, but the trip must be for the benefit of the badge holder only, whether they are a driver or passenger.
The form will ask you some questions about your circumstances. If you are identified as eligible based on your answers, you will be asked to complete further questions that will provide the information needed to complete your Blue Badge application.
There will be an option to upload the documents required. You can upload a photo or a scanned image from your computer, smartphone, tablet, or scanner.
When making an online application the payment will be taken at the end of the application.
If you are not able to make the payment at the time you submit your application, we will send you a link to pay online once we have received your application. To pay you will need to use the unique Blue Badge reference number and your surname which will be provided to you by email or letter.
Renewing a Blue Badge
A Blue Badge is issued for a maximum of 3 years and when it expires a new application is required.
Please make sure you submit your application form at least 12 weeks before the current expiry date, as once your badge has expired it can no longer be used.
Historic information for previous badge holders is not kept so it is the applicant’s responsibility to provide as much detail and evidence as possible. Your application will be assessed on the information you supply on the application form.
