Every secondary school and further education (FE) college has a member of staff who leads on careers, covering pupils in years 7 and above. They are responsible for a careers plan, which should provide opportunities for you to find out about a range of careers and choices you have after Year 11. This could include staying at school/college or getting a job with an apprenticeship.
The National Careers Service provides a range of support and information including apprenticeship vacancies.
There are websites which provide careers information such as icould, which contains dozens of interviews with people in different types of jobs.
All young people must be in education, employment with training (such as an apprenticeship), or other approved training until their 18th birthday. Your school can obtain extra careers advice for you if you’re at risk of leaving school after Year 11 without education, a job or approved training to go to. We fund the Prospect service who provide the additional advice.
