Warwickshire Inclusion Kitemarking Scheme (WIncKS)
Warwickshire early years (EY) providers may apply for the Warwickshire Inclusion Kitemarking Scheme (WIncKS). WIncKS was designed with families and professionals in 2016. It recognises the need for flexible inclusive EY provision in Warwickshire.
All EY providers must make reasonable adjustments to ensure they offer inclusive provision. Settings must meet their duties under the Equality Act, The SEND Code of Practice and the Early Years Foundation Stage. This supports children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The WIncKS award recognises and celebrates those settings who go even further.
To achieve WIncKS, the EY provider needs to have a good or outstanding Ofsted rating. Providers then share evidence showing their inclusive practice. This portfolio of evidence is reviewed by a panel. The panel includes families and EY professionals from education and health.
The WIncKS settings include day nurseries, childminders, nursery schools and classes and pre-schools. This gives families EY childcare and learning options depending on their needs.
