Members Expenses
All members receive a basic allowance. It is not intended to fully recompense all the work that is done but is a contribution to the time that they spend in performing their duties. It covers costs such as stationery, broadband and telephone costs and room hire for surgeries. The basic allowance is £10,075 per annum. Those with special responsibilities, such as the Leader, Portfolio Holders and committee chairs, are entitled to also receive an additional allowance.
Councillors are also entitled to claim reasonable travel expenses for approved duties.
