Elections 2025

The 2025 Warwickshire County Council election will take place on Thursday 1 May 2025 as part of the 2025 local elections in the United Kingdom. All 57 divisions to the Council will be elected, returning one councillor for each division for a four-year term in office. The electoral divisions are the same as those used at the previous election held in 2021.

By voting, you are exercising your democratic right to have a say over who represents your area on the local issues that affect you.

County Council elections are administered by borough and district councils on behalf of Warwickshire County Council.

How do you register to vote?

You need to be registered to vote to take part in elections. If you are not already registered to vote, you can register to vote online (GOV.UK). Alternatively, you can request a paper application form from your local district or borough council electoral registration office.

The deadline to register to vote for this election is midnight on Friday 11 April 2025.

Ways you can vote in the May elections

Voting in person at your local polling station

When voting at a polling station, you will be asked to show a valid form of photo ID such as a passport, driving licence, Older Person’s Bus Pass, or Blue Badge. A full list of accepted forms of voter ID can be found on the Electoral Commission website.

If you do not have a valid type of photo ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. This can be done online via the GOV.UK website or by submitting the relevant form to your local district or borough council electoral registration office. The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate is 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025.

Voting by post

As an alternative to voting in person at a polling station, you can apply to vote by post. Postal voting is available to all those electors who have registered individually. If you have not registered individually, you will need to do this before you can apply to vote by post. You can apply for a postal vote at www.gov.uk/vote-uk-election or by submitting the relevant form to your local district or borough council electoral registration office. The deadline to apply for postal vote is 5pm on Monday 14 April 2025.

Voting by proxy

Voting by proxy is when you ask someone you trust to vote on your behalf. You can apply to vote by proxy via the GOV.UK website or by submitting the relevant form to your local district or borough council electoral registration office. You can choose to vote by proxy for one election or have a permanent long-term proxy vote.

The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025. After this date, an emergency proxy vote is available in certain circumstances. Please contact your district or borough council for details.
