The following privacy notice applies to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), who is responsible for overseeing the management of allegations of people working in positions of trust.

It should be read in addition to the council’s overall Customer Privacy Notice

Purpose for processing

The LADO has a statutory duty to make sure employers are safeguarding children effectively. Our processing of personal information is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation under Working Together 2015.

  • Criminal convictions

  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

  • Sentinel system
How long we will hold your information

Founded allegations = file closure + 100 years
Unsubstantiated allegations = file closure + 100 years
Unfounded allegations = review after 10 years
Malicious allegations = review after 10 years

Please note: all stated retention periods will be subject to any legal holds imposed under the Inquiries Act 2005 that may concern the information and override standard retention.
