Strength does not come from a physical capacity; it comes from an indomitable will - Ghandi

Regardless of your fitness level, it’s never too late to get moving and get some sort of daily exercise into your life. This doesn’t have to be a workout routine, but a 30-minute walk or even a few strengthening exercises, anything that helps raise your heartbeat.

Below are a few exercises that can help strengthen your core and increase your overall mobility.

Don’t forget the warm up

Don’t forget to warm up before you undertake any fitness or exercise routine. We have produced a number of gentle exercises to help with this. Strengthening your core muscles in your back, legs and upper body will help your exercise a little easier.

You may have been referred to these videos by a health care professional or you may have found them yourself, in any case, please take your time and enjoy the routine.

Walking

Walking is one of the more popular ways of keeping active, mainly because anyone can do it anytime and anywhere. You may want to ask a friend or a family member to join you on your daily walk, which is a great way to help keep you motivated.

Alternatively, you may want to use the time to relax and unwind from the day’s stresses. Plug yourself into your favourite music or podcast – which can help make walking that bit more enjoyable.

There are many walking clubs that are now beginning to re-open after the COVID-19 lockdown. Walking clubs are a great way of meeting new friends and talking to someone else other than your family. Following the outbreak of COVID-19, please check with your local walking or rambling club for any special requirements around pre-booking a place in the group. Additional restrictions may be in place.

Country parks and open spaces

Warwickshire has an abundance of beautiful country parks, which makes it easy to get out into the fresh air and start walking. Being out in the open is also a great way to clear you mind and help maintain your mental health.

Many of the parks also have nature walks that you can follow. This is a great way of taking in the beautiful surroundings of Warwickshire, while getting those all-important steps into your daily routine.

If you don’t live near a country park, then why not take a walk around the area you live. You may discover new things and places to walk. Ask friends and family to join you and make it a walk and chat.
