Using evidence to embed HiAP into work
A number of tools we can use to identify any impact on health and wellbeing and health inequalities. Here are some examples:
Health Equity Assessment Tool (HEAT)
The HEAT was produced by Public Health England (PHE) to enable professionals to systematically identify and address health inequalities and equity in their work programmes or services. They developed a full and simplified version - of which the simplified version has now been embedded within the Equality impact assessment.
Warwickshire County Council Equality Impact Assessment (EIA)
An equality impact assessment is a process designed to ensure that a policy, project or scheme does not unlawfully discriminate against any protected characteristic.
Health Impact Assessment Tools
Health Impact Assessment (HIA) is a practical approach used to judge the potential health effects of a policy, programme or project on a population, particularly on vulnerable or disadvantaged groups.
