Funding will provide an opportunity for women and new mothers to come together to build relationships and friendships with other women as a befriending service.
Christ Church Drop in Café, Brownsover
A drop-in café that has been running at the church for a couple of years. Funding will allow development of the café to offer hot snacks as well as drinks and offer an additional space to bring together the wider community. It is also planned to invite services who can support with cost of living etc.
Organ Recitals, Church Lawford
Funding for hosting and advertising of regular organ recitals at St Peter's where people could come and listen to the organ being played. The recitals were non-religious and open to all, and attendees are usually elderly people who live in the village and surrounding villages, many of whom come alone.
Hillmorton Community Centre
Featuring a craft area, daily newspaper and generous amounts of coffee and cake! Computer access and signposting is available. The facilities are open to everyone, in particular families, older people and those needing job-seeking support.
Making Connections, The Chapel Newbold
Elmer is a campervan which makes visits to socially isolated people in specific areas of Rugby. Care packs are given as a ‘thinking of you’ gift ahead of an in-person visit, with subsequent follow-up activities such as taking them out or bringing activities to them. Funding will allow the Elmer Bus to visit more locations and to send out more Care Packs.
Weekly Day Care Session, Hoskyn Centre
Weekly day care session for elderly and less abled. We provide social space for older people to connect, read newspapers and enjoy a hot meal. Funding will continue the day care post-pandemic.
Gift Bags, Trips and Cooking, Rugby Methodist Church
Funding will provide further cooking sessions for the World Kitchen project, bringing together people from different cultural backgrounds to cook and share food. It will also help develop an art morning with a Syrian lunch for refugees.
Percival Guildhouse, Rugby
More than a centre of education; a community of people passionate about, and committed to, its continuation. The majority are over 65 years of age, and the Guildhouse can be their main, if not only, point of social interaction.
St Matthews & St Oswalds Church, Rugby
Existing Tues morning drop-in serves about 20 senior citizens. Funding will widen the service to the whole community, particularly targeting older men with more suitable activities. It will include tea and chat, games, singing, and an affordable lunch.
