Activities (holiday provision)

There are lots of SEND specific and inclusive providers of activities for children and young people to do anytime. These become more important during the holidays as they give parents/carers small breaks whilst providing fun activities.

Days Out

We have put together some suggestions for SEND appropriate family days out for during school holidays:

• The Family Information Service Facebook page posts community days and events that are happening across Warwickshire.
• You can down a list of accessible restaurants in Warwickshire (PDF, 5.2 MB) for when you’re out and about.
• There is also an app called 50 Things To Do Warwickshire, which has fun activities for children 5 and under. You can also view their Facebook page.

Help Accessing Activities

Here are some schemes that can help you access activities:

• A Radar key to open disabled toilets
• A Sunflower lanyard makes others aware of hidden disabilities, like autism
• A CEA Card for Cinema gives a disabled cinema guest a free ticket for someone to go with them
• VocalEyes provides audio description for blind and visually impaired people to experience art and culture.
• A Blue Badge means you can park closer to your destination.
• A Disabled persons bus pass can help people with disabilities travel around.
• A Disabled Persons Railcard is another option for help travelling (adult also gets 1/3 if travelling with someone with a DPR)
• There’s also Community Transport available for those that cannot access public transport: warwickshire.gov.uk/indiego and Stratford's community transport service.

Online

Not every child can or will want to access in person activities.

Spectrum Gaming is an online community for autistic young people, where they can interact in a safe, online space.

There are free and paid virtual holiday camps that your child could attend.
