Vaping

Fires and accidents from electronic cigarettes or vaporizers can be prevented with the following safety advice:  

  • Only purchase vaping devices from reputable manufacturers and retailers  
    • Avoid counterfeit or cheaply made products.  Verify that they meet the necessary safety requirements and carry CE or UKCA marking. 
  • Carefully read and follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper handling, use, and maintenance.  
    • If a vaping device isn’t working or shows signs of damage, stop using it.  
  • Use the charger provided by the manufacturer or a charger that is specifically recommended for the device.  
    • Avoid using incompatible chargers or mixing and matching components from different devices, as this may lead to battery malfunction or overheating. 
  • Do not leave vaping devices connected to the charger unattended for long periods. 
    • Don’t charge them overnight or when you're away from home.  
    • Disconnect them promptly once they are fully charged. 
  • Always charge vaping devices on a non-flammable and stable surface to minimize the risk of fire spreading. 
    • Don’t charge them on soft or flammable materials such as beds, sofas, or carpets. 
  • Replace damaged or worn-out batteries promptly to reduce the risk of malfunctions and fires. 
    • Store spare batteries safely to avoid contact with other metal objects that may cause a short circuit. 
  • Keep vaping devices clean and free from dust or debris that may affect their functioning.  
    • Regularly inspect and clean the connection points between the battery and device to ensure a secure fit. 
  • Stop using a battery if it becomes damaged in any way. 
    • Dispose of it safely designated recycling facilities. 
  • When not in use, store vaping devices and batteries in a cool, dry place, away from sources of heat or direct sunlight.  
    • Don’t leave them in pockets or bags with other metal objects, as this can cause accidental activation or short circuits. 
  • Store e-liquids in child-resistant packaging and out of reach of children and pets as well as away from heat sources, as they may be flammable.
