Jade

“I’ve always wanted to be a firefighter since I was little. I’ve got three children and I work in a nursery, so when I heard about the on-call opportunities at WFRS I thought it would be great way to get involved whilst still being flexible around the kids.

 

Jade is an on-call firefighter for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS), with an ambition the join wholetime in the future.

“I wanted to give back to my community, but I also wanted challenge myself. I had always kind of just got by, so I really wanted to step it up a few notches.”

 

“The recruitment process was well organized; I applied and had a phone call a few days later inviting me to a taster day. Following this, I proceeded with the recruitment process and had training days put into place to help with the upcoming physical and written exams. As someone who doesn’t do very well in exam conditions, I was worried how I’d perform, however I quickly realised I needn’t be. We were more than prepared and sailed through.”
