Impact grant third round projects
Sikh Mission Resource Centre
This project aims to set up a mental health and well-being support centre at the Sikh Mission Centre, which will help people who have struggled during COVID to come together, rejoin the community and gain skills which will boost their confidence and help them to socialise and get fit.
The British Gurkha Veterans Association
This project will run basic maths sessions for the Gurkha veterans, their families and friends. They will be combining some educational day trips to places such as the Museum and other historical places within the country, to learn English Culture.
The Polish Community Stratford
This project aims to use volleyball to improve the social aspects of an individual. Using volleyball they hope that individuals playing in a team will learn and improve their social attributes in regard to social relations. Also relief of stress, greater control over their anxiety, anger, paranoia and any other emotions.
Nuneaton Womens's Multicultural Resource Centre
This project would like to deliver a project aiming to provide up to 20 women whose first language is not English with free weekly ESOL classes. Helping women with unemployment, reducing social isolation and helping their mental health and well-being.
Stratford Music Network (Spark Music)
This project aims to reduce social isolation, mental health, well-being and unemployment using expressive arts like Music, in which refugee youngsters can express their emotions. Performing music will help to improve self-esteem and confidence.
Guardian Ballers
This project aims to work with young people by combining basketball with mental and emotional well-being education. Encourage young people to 'BALL' (enjoying basketball), BE (mental well-being) and improve their communities.
Escape Arts
Escape Arts is supporting asylum seekers in Stratford-upon-Avon, a new service that will provide sustained, weekly creative interventions which have been identified and will be further co-produced by displaced families. The project will deliver activities that include innovative interventions, game playing, sports challenges, and building languages and social skills.
Otra Cosa
The aim of this project is to continue supporting the Latin American community who live in and around the towns of Warwick, Leamington Spa and Rugby. T hey will offer the community weekly sports activities such as aerobics, yoga, and dancing. and also deliver gardening lessons which meet in an allotment and monthly crafts workshops.
Guru Nanak Gurdwara
This project will benefit residents of Nuneaton and Bedworth focused on South Asians of Sikh and Hindu Punjabi Heritage. The purpose is to reduce social isolation and build resilience by rejuvenating and developing new activities and groups. They propose to do regular movies on a big screen, educational films/presentations, with the attendees being able to inform and agree on what to watch.
