In Engineering Design Services we focus on civil engineering and providing a design consultancy service to both the private and public sector. Our core business is the design and construction of highways and highway structures, but we also manage the maintenance of County's highway structures and operate a building and structural design service.

Working for the local authority will enable you to develop technical, managerial and commercial skills through the varied work experience offered by our programme of civil engineering infrastructure projects.

You will work as part of a large integrated team from different engineering disciplines on diverse projects ranging from new buildings to new highways, drainage infrastructure to the improvement or replacement of existing structural assets or enhancing existing farming infrastructure and waste management facilities.  With such variety we think we provide a great grounding to the start of your engineering career!

On a day to day basis you will be able to get involved in these projects. Typically your work would be producing feasibility studies for new schemes; undertaking the technical design of new highway structures using a broad range of techniques including advanced structural modelling software; communicating and liaising with stakeholders and the public; preparing and tendering construction contracts including drawings, specifications, and contract documents; and construction site supervision and contract administration.

This is a 6 year programme and we are committed to supporting you every step of the journey from apprentice to Incorporated Civil Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers.  We provide on the job training and training courses, supported by our accredited Institution of Civil Engineers training programme. Registration and Subscription fees are all paid for by us.

This your chance to develop your skills and experience at the same time as making a real difference to the people of Warwickshire.
