Identifying need

  • Young people can have persistent minor  physical and/or medical needs, relating to physical disability or a medical condition requiring an increased level of monitoring that can be met within school resources.   
  • The physical and/or medical needs could have an impact on the young person’s learning and/or access to the curriculum. These implications could include:   
    • Physical access to the building/classroom and movement around school   
    • Recording work  
    • Attention/memory and other cognitive functions   
    • Speech and language  
    • Fatigue   
    • Social interaction with peers   
    • Emotional well-being
