Renting a home
As a BN(O) visa holder you have right to rent in the UK. You will need to pay a deposit and to sign a ‘tenancy agreement’. The tenancy agreement will set out how much rent needs to be paid and how often, usually be for a fixed period of 6 or 12 months, a list of repairs and maintenance that are your responsibility and which are the landlord’s responsibility ,and any other rules or restrictions. If you want a longer initial fixed period, you can ask whether the landlord is willing to agree to this.
The GOV.UK has a helpful 'how to rent' guide.
Buying a home
Buying a home is often the largest purchase you will make in your lifetime. It can be complicated but extremely satisfying when you get the right place.
More information on buying a home can be found on the GOV.UK website
Mortgages
There are different types of mortgages on offer. You may engage a mortgage broker (you have to pay a fee for this service) to get individualised mortgage advice. You can also use price comparison websites to understand what types of products are available.
