Driving in The UK

You can drive around the UK on your valid Hong Kong driving licence for up to 12 months from the day you last entered. You must exchange your licence to continue driving after this.

Provisional Driving

If you are at least 15 years and 9 months old, are able to read a number plate from 20 metres away and have been given permission to live in the UK (England, Scotland and Wales) for at least 185 days, you can apply for your provisional driving licence through DVLA online.

Public transport

You may be eligible for free bus travel:

Older Person's Bus Pass

When you reach state pension age, you can get a bus pass for free travel.

You can apply for this bus pass from your local council.

Disabled Person’s Bus Pass

If you are between five years old and pensionable age and have a disability which lasts for 12 months or more, you may be entitled to a disabled person’s pass.

Renewing a bus pass

Your bus pass does not automatically renew when it expires. 

You can renew your bus pass one month before the expiry date, or up to one year after the expiry date.
