If your child is refused a place at a school you have applied for, it is usually because the school has no vacancies in the relevant year group. Your application for the school will continue to be considered for the rest of the academic term in which it was made and, if a place can be offered at any time during that period, you will be notified of this via your parent portal account.

When we haven’t been able to offer your child a place, one of the following will apply:

  • If your child is living in Warwickshire and attending a local school, then we would expect them to keep attending that school.
  • If your child is living in Warwickshire and does not have a school place, or is attending a school in another area, we will offer your child a place at the next nearest school to their home address which has vacancies in the relevant year group at that time. This will not be a school that you named on your application and may not be in the area in which you live. You may want to consider any Home-to-School Transport options that are available to you.
  • If your child is not currently living in Warwickshire, please contact your home authority (who you pay your Council Tax to) to discuss alternative school options. This is especially important if your child has no school to attend.

Appeals

You can appeal for a place at any school that has refused to offer your child a place.
