Following the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown measures put in place in March, buses across Warwickshire have been running to an emergency timetable with a focus on maintaining a service for essential journeys and getting key workers to work.
As the lockdown measures are beginning to ease and more people are returning to work, at the beginning of June bus operators began to increase their bus services across Warwickshire. Wednesday 10th June also marks when concessionary bus pass holders will no longer be able to travel free before 9am.
Councillor Jeff Clarke, portfolio holder for transport and planning, said:
“We are pleased to announce that bus services across Warwickshire are beginning to increase, allowing more of our residents to travel throughout the county.
“As services begin to resume to a more normal timetable, the use of the concessionary passes will return to the pre-Covid restrictions and will not be able to be used before 9am.
“When using our bus services, please continue to follow social distancing guidance to help protect yourself and others.”
The increase in bus services will bring with it some adjustments as social distancing guidance continues to be implemented. If you are using the bus, please remember:
- To only use public transport if it is essential
- If you do need to travel, please plan your journey and avoid peak travel times if possible when it will be less busy
- Continue to observe social distancing guidance while on the bus or at the bus stop
- From 15th June you will be required to wear a face covering while on public transport
- Remember to regularly clean your hands and use contactless payment

Due to the social distancing measures, buses will only able to carry around a fifth of their normal capacity, and no standing will be allowed. Be prepared to wait for another service if you see a bus full sign. Full buses will normally only operate on a one off and one on basis, so please be patient and consider other passengers who may need to travel more urgently than you.
