Converting footways to a shared-use footway/cycle track with joint pedestrian use, and introduce mandatory on-carriageway cycle lane.
Scheme overview
Under Section 65 and 66 of the Highways Act 1980, we propose to convert the existing footway on A425 Myton Road, Warwick, between the Junction with the Banbury Road and the Toucan Crossing near Myton Gardens into a shared-use footway/cycle track, and introduce a mandatory on-carriageway cycle lane, on the lengths of road and as described in more detail in the schedule.
Schedule
- Conversion of footway to cycle track with joint pedestrian use on the north side of A425 Myton Road - The length of footway on the north side of A425 Myton Road between Warwick School exit and the Toucan Crossing, and the Toucan Crossing near Myton Gardens, for a distance of approximately 515 metres with a width of 5 metres over its length in a northeasterly direction.
- Mandatory on carriageway cycle lane on the south side of A425 Myton Road - The length of the carriageway on the south side of A425 Myton Road from its junction with Myton Gardens for a distance of approximately 165 metres with a width of 1.5 metres in a southwesterly direction towards the Banbury Road.
- Conversion of footway to cycle track with joint pedestrian use on the south side of A425 Myton Road - The length of footway on the south side of A425 Myton Road 165 metres from Myton Gardens for a distance of 55 metres, with a width of 4 metres over its length in a southwesterly direction.
- Mandatory on carriageway cycle lane on the south side of A425 Myton Road - The length of the carriageway which is 216 metres west of Myton Gardens for a distance of approximately 215 metres in a southwesterly direction with a width of 1.5 metres in a southwesterly direction towards the Banbury Road.
- Conversion of footway to cycle track with joint pedestrian use on the south side of A425 Myton Road - From its junction with the Banbury Road for a distance of approximately 195 metres and a width between 2.7 metres to 2.8 metres in an easterly direction.

A copy of the plan showing the proposed location of the shared footway and cycle track and mandatory on-carriageway cycle lane, and a statement of the council’s reasons may be inspected at the Main Reception/Library, Shire Hall, Market Place, Warwick; and at the Warwick District Council, Riverside House, Milverton Hill, Leamington Spa, CV32 5HZ, during usual opening hours.
