Warwickshire Libraries will be revealing their books of the year, suggesting some festive holiday reads and sharing some super online Christmas-themed activities this week and next week, as the countdown to Christmas and the end of 2020 continues!

Today (Tuesday 15th December) libraries staff will be sharing their top reads of 2020 in their weekly online blog, which will be published on the Warwickshire Libraries Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/warwickshirelibraries/) and Twitter (@warkslibraries) accounts at 3pm and viewable at https://librariesblog.warwickshire.gov.uk (there will be another blog at the same time next week with some festive reading recommendations).

On Wednesday evening (16th) at 8pm, you can take part in a Virtual Reading Group with library team members to discuss your books of 2020 and theirs! They'll be sharing the best books they've read this year.

Whether that's a horror novel, a romance, non-fiction, travel writing or a children's book, they can't wait to hear about the titles you've read this year that left their mark after the final page was turned.

Register to join the event at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/warwickshire-libraries-virtual-reading-group-books-of-2020-tickets-130224253247 and pick 2 or 3 of your favourite books to share with everyone.

Tell the Reading Group on the night why you enjoyed the books and why you'd recommend them to others, and hopefully Warwickshire Libraries staff can help you add to your ‘To Be Read’ pile for 2021 with some new suggestions.

Then on Friday (18th) between 12pm and 1pm, join the #BookDoctor on Warwickshire Libraries’ Twitter to find out their festive reading recommendations! The #BookDoctor will also be sharing their suggestions on social at the same time every day next week, up until and including Christmas Eve!

On Monday (21st), Bedworth Library will be opening the last of this year’s Advent Calendar online on Warwickshire Libraries’ social media channels at 9.45am, and at 10am there will be a very special festive Rhyme Time on Facebook.

Then follow Warwickshire Libraries on Facebook on 11am on Monday, 2pm on Tuesday and 11am on Wednesday for some festive craft ideas!

Councillor Kam Kaur, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder of Customer and Transformation, said:

“Our libraries have been providing valuable digital services throughout the pandemic this year, so I hope that people will get in the festive spirit and join our libraries staff online to tell us all about their 2020 reading experiences, and to get inspired by some seasonal book choices and craft ideas, in the run up to Christmas Day.”
