Firefighters from Nuneaton Station are inviting residents to come along and join in the fun this Saturday 1st September for their annual community and charity open day. The event is one of the biggest of its kind in Warwickshire and the 32nd Nuneaton Fire Station open day.

Following on from the success of open days at Polesworth, Kenilworth and Southam stations, attendees are encouraged to bring their families to what will be a day of fun, with all proceeds going to The Firefighters Charity and other charity organisations.

The event is being run by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service from 10 am to 4pm at Nuneaton Fire Station, Newtown Road, Nuneaton. The day will be a chance for firefighters to promote fire safety in the home, showcase the work of the Fire and Rescue Service as well as raise money for charity.

The event is free and attendees will be able to take part in a range of fun activities including:

  • a climbing wall;
  • wildlife sanctuary;
  • go-karts;
  • an ice cream van;
  • inflatable maze;
  • and much more!

Kids will also get to meet some special guests: Marshall from Paw Patrol will be in attendance, along with Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam!

The event timetable kicks off at 11.30 am with live music from Kris Sweet. This will be shortly followed by Nuneaton fire crews who will perform a demonstration of a road traffic collision at 12.15 pm showing the vital work they regularly undertake. Later on the Tracy Porter School of dance will perform at 2 pm, followed by the Long Feng Martial and Cultural Arts Lion Dance team at 2.30 pm.

There will be a prosecco and gin bar and the chance to win a brand new Vauxhall Viva SE! If that’s not enough, there will be the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets at 50p each with the top prizes being:

  • one night stay in Grand Feature Bedchamber for two Inc. dinner & breakfast;
  • a Christmas party for up to ten guests either in their Join a Party event in the marquee or Medieval Banquet;
  • a champagne afternoon tea for four in The Garden Room Restaurant.

Raffle tickets are available from Nuneaton Fire Station. We want to thank Coombe Abbey for kindly donating the prizes.

There are opportunities available for local businesses to promote their company at the Open Day. All we ask is for a donation to the Fire Fighters Charity. For more details, please contact Rachel Streeting on 024 7638 3131.

Parking is limited in the area, so please be sensible about where you park. Please do not park in local businesses car parks as these are for their customers only and fines will apply.

The event organiser Firefighter Rachel Streeting said:

"This year’s open day will be the best yet as we celebrate our 32nd anniversary! We have a packed event with something for family members of all ages to enjoy: go karts, a climbing wall, and a gin and prosecco bar which is kindly sponsored by Co-op at Horestone Grange.

“We’re really excited about hosting live performances from Kris Sweet and dances from Tracy Porter School of Dance and Long Feug martial and cultural arts lion dance team as well!

There will also be the chance to win some excellent prizes as well all kindly donated by local businesses. If you’re free this Saturday make sure you come along, meet your local firefighters and enjoy a real day of family fun.”

Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Fire and Community Safety Cllr Andy Crump added:

“The Open Day at Nuneaton Fire Station is one of the biggest in the county. There is always a wide range of activities for residents to take part in, making it a really fun day for all of the family to enjoy. So don’t miss out, come along to Nuneaton Fire Station, meet your local firefighters, help raise some money for charity and of course have fun too!”
