A major project to re-open the bridge across the A444, Nuneaton to connect Griff Island to the south of Nuneaton with Heath End Road to the west.

Scheme overview

We have previously consulted on a major project to re-open the bridge across the A444, Nuneaton to connect Griff Island to the south of Nuneaton with Heath End Road to the west. Original proposals, as designed and opened to initial consultation, showed double yellow lines along the entire route connecting Griff Island with Heath End Road.

Taking into account feedback received and the results of an independent road safety audit, a full investigation into parking provision along the route has been carried out which has resulted in the revised proposals as detailed below.  This incorporates full-time parking places to remain where road widths are sufficient to maintain through-flow of traffic, and some parking to be available at times of lower expected traffic volumes.

In addition to the waiting restrictions, speed-reducing features (central traffic islands) are proposed at five locations along the main route.  It is also proposed that articulated vehicles are prohibited from using Tenlons Road (except for access to and from properties & businesses on Tenlons Road itself), with the through route along Bermuda Road.

Traffic orders and public notices

Please note that due to the holiday period publishing schedules, the statutory notice in the local press will be published on either the 26 December 2019 or the 2 January 2020. However, in acknowledgement that a number of residents and other interested parties may be away over this period, notices on street and statutory consultation are being published now with the usual three-week consultation period extended until the 29th January 2020.
