There’s nothing quite like a good book and some music to help lift your spirits or provide a bit of escapism.
So you’ll be pleased to know that, although library buildings in Warwickshire may be closed at the moment, Warwickshire’s Virtual Library Service is still available online 24/7!
There’s something for everyone thanks to the BorrowBox service, including eBooks and eAudiobooks for adults wanting to lose themselves in a work of fiction and for children who need some extra entertainment while they haven’t got their regular school days to keep them occupied.
The BorrowBox service has already proved to be extremely popular with Warwickshire library service users since its launch last year.
They are continuously extending their range of exclusive authors and titles, with eAudiobook issues proving popular and eBook issues significantly increasing.
BorrowBox is “your library in one app” and it has already started to transform the way people use their local library services, enabling people to access library items whenever and wherever they are.
The app allows users to borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks for free and is available across most digital devices, including the iPad and Kindle Fire.
Free eMagazines and eNewspapers with popular titles to download and read at your leisure are also available through PressReader and RB Digital, which will let you read a wide variety of worldwide publications on your device, whether that is your mobile phone, tablet or computer, through their websites and apps.
All you need to access these for free are your library card number and email address.
And there’s so much more available than just books and publications. You can also access streamed classical music from the Naxos Music Library and even free online languages courses thanks to Duolingo.
Home learning is a big priority at the moment and your Virtual Library Service team is here to help! They’ve curated some home learning resources to keep you and the kids occupied and educated, including learning websites, online encyclopedias such as Encyclopedia Britannica, story times and creative activities.
And for adults needing to exercise their brain cells at home, you can access digital training through Skillshare, an online learning community where you can acquire the latest skills in animation, illustration, 3D design, video making and more – and it is all delivered in bite size chunks.
For those library users wanting reference library resources, you can access renowned reference sites online such as the Times Digital Newspaper Archive (1785-2013), Oxford English Dictionary and Oxford Reference, to name but a few.
Visit https://library.warwickshire.gov.uk/ to find out how to access all these digital services.
All you need to use these free online resources is a Warwickshire library ticket.
If you’re not already a member you can join online, visit https://library.warwickshire.gov.uk/ and click ‘Join Online’. Warwickshire Libraries will send you your membership number and then you can get started straight away!
