Introducing a residents’ parking scheme in Wedgnock Green, Deerpark Drive, Newburgh Crescent, Oken Road and a section of Cape Road in Warwick.
Scheme overview
We are proposing to introduce a residents’ parking scheme in Wedgnock Green, Deerpark Drive, Newburgh Crescent, Oken Road and a section of Cape Road. We are writing to residents to ask their opinion on the proposed changes.
As residents may be aware, proposals have previously been put forward in this area, with no overall consensus reached during the consultation. However, in the light of several recent pieces of correspondence from residents highlighting that issues with parking are still ongoing, these proposals are being revisited.
In general, we understand that the problem centres around the green itself, with the majority of spaces regularly occupied by commuters, hospital workers and visitors, and other all-day parking.
Simply restricting parking on Wedgnock Green may only serve to increase levels of inappropriate parking in the narrow surrounding streets, potentially restricting access to and from driveways. Therefore, the area has been looked at as a whole, with the residents’ parking encompassing all of the above-named roads, accommodating as many spaces (including footway parking) as can be practically achieved without obstructing either carriageway or footways.
