Every secondary school and further education (FE) college has a member of staff who leads on careers which covers pupils in years 7 and above. They are responsible for a careers plan. The careers plan should provide opportunities for young people to find out about a range of careers and choices they have after year 11. This could include staying at school/college or getting a job with an apprenticeship.
The National Careers Service provides a range of support and information including apprenticeship vacancies. Find out more about the National Careers Service.
There are websites which provide careers information such as icould. Icould contains dozens of interviews with people in different types of jobs. More information about icould.
All young people must be in education, employment with training (such as an apprenticeship), or other approved training until their 18th birthday. Schools can obtain extra careers advice for pupils at risk of leaving school after year 11 without education, a job or approved training to go to. We fund the Prospect service who provide the additional advice. Prospects - further details.
The Warwickshire Skills Hub provides local information on careers for young people, their families, businesses and school and college careers leads. For more information see our Skills Hub website.
