Why Switch and Save?

The scheme, managed by iChoosr, is open to all UK energy customers owning or renting a property. You can sign up as long as your name is on the energy bill. Pre-pay meter users can also register, and there are several tariffs available including:

  • pre-payment
  • electric only
  • dual fuel (electricity and gas)

Fixed term contracts

If you are in a fixed term contract coming to an end in the next month or so you should be able to switch without penalty. Some fixed term contracts come with exit or ‘early termination’ fees. These should not apply in the last 49 days of your contract.

Standard tariffs

Many suppliers have increased their standard tariffs in the last few months, so now is a good time to see how much you can save. These are their ‘standard variable tariffs’. Suppliers will put you on this if you haven’t switched before or if your fixed term contract has ended. Seven out of ten households are on a standard tariff, which means they could save the most by switching.

How does it work?

After you have registered, there are a few simple steps that you need to follow.

If you have registered and haven’t received your offer letter by 20th November or if you need help to understand it please contact us – 0800 988 2881.

Accepting the offer

To switch you’ll need to complete the form attached to the offer letter and post it back in the pre-paid envelope by 20th November 2018. If you are emailing the form back this will need to be done by 27th November 2018. You don’t have to contact your current supplier to switch, we will work with your new supplier to cover the switch.

Smart meters

If you accept your offer you will need to record if you have a smart meter in the acceptance forms. This will notify the winning supplier will be that you are using a smart meter. Your meter readings will automatically be sent to them.

Not all smart meters are compatible with suppliers, which could mean your smart meter loses certain functions when you switch.

If you have a concern about this please contact 0800 988 2881. We will confirm with the winning supplier if they can support your smart meter without losing any functions. The meter will still work as an actual meter, but automatic readings will not be sent out. Your energy usage on your home display unit will not be visible.
