About Voice of Warwickshire
The Voice of Warwickshire residents panel gives people who live in Warwickshire an opportunity to share their views on a variety of subjects.
Results from surveys completed by panel members are given directly back to decision makers within the council, to assist them when making plans and decisions.
In 2022/23 residents answered surveys on their engagement with Warwickshire County Council, Levelling Up, climate change, Warwickshire County Council website and homepage, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and provided feedback on their time as a panel member with the Voice of Warwickshire.

Surveys
Voice of Warwickshire members will be contacted four to six times a year. This will mainly be using online polls and short surveys but other options will be available if you are not online. For those panel members wishing to get more involved, there could be the option to participate in other engagement activities.

How your views have been used
This survey asked the Voice of Warwickshire panel about Artificial Intelligence (AI) to understand their knowledge of AI and their thoughts on the potential use of it at Warwickshire County Council.
All 952 Voice of Warwickshire panel members were given the opportunity to respond. There were 410 responses to the survey, a response rate of 43.1%.
- We are seeing more and more uses of AI in our day to day lives, and Warwickshire County Council is taking a careful, managed approach to understand how it might be utilised in the way we work. The insights gathered from the Voice of Warwickshire panel will help shape our policies in this new area, and it is incredibly helpful to understand how our residents feel about the opportunities AI might provide alongside some of the concerns and ethical issues we need to pay close attention to.
- In 2025, we will be updating our Digital & Data Strategy. This will set out how we intend to use technology and information to improve the way we work, deliver a better customer experience and work more efficiently. The use of AI will be a key aspect of this strategy, and the information provided by panel members will help us use AI in the right places and at the right times. In addition, we will need to create specific policies in the use of AI so that any new ways of working are introduced in a very careful, secure and safe way.

How your views have been used
The insight gained in this survey will be used in the Director of Public Health Annual Report. The 2024 annual report will focus on celebrating the areas where Warwickshire respondents live. The report will be used to inspire local action to strengthen and build community wellbeing.
All 952 Voice of Warwickshire panel members were given the opportunity to respond. Feedback from the survey will help bring the community voice to the Director of Public Health Report.
A total of 46.4% (n=444) members of the panel completed the survey

This survey asked panel members what they hoped the Voice of Warwickshire would achieve.
The survey received a total of 768 responses, representing a 78% response rate.
- Enabling Warwickshire County Council to gather current views on engagement.

- A point of reference to be evaluated in 12 months.

This survey was intended to gather the panels’ views on and knowledge of climate and energy.
The survey received a total of 590 responses, representing a 58.2% response rate
- Following feedback from the survey a list of grants available to make homes more energy efficient is being put together and distributed via the relaunch of the climate change newsletter.
- Insight from what the panel said about energy from waste used in waste strategy research.
- Insight used with Warwick District Council on future EV charging infrastructure.

This survey asked panel members for their thoughts on Warwickshire County Councils (WCC) Website and homepage.
The survey received a total of 356 responses, representing a 35.6% response rate.
- Insights have helped shape proposals to revise the design of the Warwickshire County Council website homepage.
- Insights have been used in discussions with leaders in the council about the purpose of the website homepage.
- Insights have informed a report on how the proposed changes may impact protected groups.
Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service

How your views have been used
The survey aimed to learn whether residents are aware of recent changes in the fire and rescue service; their understanding of the contemporary role of a firefighter; and their awareness of the core functions of preventing, protecting and responding. This information will be used to inform future communications and engagement work.
The survey received a total of 299 responses a 30.2% response rate.
- Survey results have been used to help review and redevelop recruitment to on-call firefighter roles, with a focus of addressing misconceptions about on call firefighters which were highlighted in the survey.
- Insights have highlighted the requirement to raise awareness of on-call and how it works to ensure there is an understanding.
- Answers from the survey are shaping WFRS communications digital planner and will help shape future engagement work that is planned for the year ahead.

How your views have been used
In this survey we wanted to hear views on engagement with Warwickshire County Council (WCC) and thoughts on the Voice of Warwickshire (VoW). We were keen to understand current views and how these may of changed since the start of the Voice of Warwickshire panel.
There were 362 responses to the survey, a response rate of 36.9%
Insights highlighted that panel members did not always see or have access to the final reports from the surveys.
- All future reports will be sent to panel members in a dedicated email
- We will work with teams across WCC to develop a varied and interesting programme of activities
- How your views have been used document will be placed within the email
- The demographics of the panel will be presented on the website
- A key messages document will be produced showing brief headlines from the report along with a link to view the full report
Nuneaton and Bedworth Levelling Up

How your views have been used
In this survey Warwickshire County Council and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council wanted to understand residents thoughts on priorities and areas for levelling up in Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough. The survey was sent to all 161 members of the panel who live in Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough.
There were a total of 71 responses, a response rate of 44.1%.
- Insights from the surveys have been shared in joint meetings with Warwickshire County Council and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council
- LSurvey results will be used to shape the delivery of levelling up both borough wide and in priority places
- Survey results have helped develop how residents will be engaged with through the levelling up plan and the role councillors will have
Libraries and library services

How your views have been used
In this survey we were keen to understand library use and awareness of library services. The insight will help us shape how we can support our communities to use and engage with the library and the services available.
This survey was sent to all 836 Voice of Warwickshire panel members. Insights will help to identify, understand and meet users needs along with developing an understanding of non users of the services and what could be done to ensure the service is accessible to them.
A total of 41.4% (n=364) members of the panel completed the survey.
- Insights from the survey will help develop a marketing and communications strategy to promote libraries and what they can provide
- Survey results will be used to help identify, understand and meet library users needs
- Responses will help inform future planning for the library and library services

How your views have been used
VThis survey asked the Voice of Warwickshire panel their views on greenspaces to understand how people use and feel about greenspaces in their communities. In addition, a section of the survey focused on Warwickshire County Council's Country Parks Service.
931 Voice of Warwickshire panel members were given the opportunity to respond. There were 336 responses to the survey, a response rate of 36.1%.
Currently, your responses:
- Provide evidence to help inform and tailor our Country Parks service
- Highlight the expectation and experience of Warwickshire’s green spaces from our residents and communities
- Inform and support wider network and partner intelligence on Warwickshire’s green spaces
Further uses - your responses will be used to:
- Help with reducing barriers to accessing green space in Warwickshire
- Highlight and champion the importance green spaces have amongst our residents and communities
- Inform and evidence new proposals, existing workstreams and projects involving green spaces across Warwickshire.
