Access to Information

We may exclude access to information which relates to exempt or confidential matters:

  • Confidential information means that which is given to the Council by a government department on terms which forbid its public disclosure or information which cannot be publicly disclosed under court order.

Exempt information is that which falls within the seven categories set out in the Local Government Act 1972, which broadly includes information pertaining to an individual, information protected under certain legal and contractual obligations and information relating to any action in connection with the prevention, investigation or prosecution of crime.
