Call-In

Call-in is the formal process which allows councillors to challenge executive decisions before they are implemented. It only applies to decisions made by the Leader, Cabinet, Portfolio Holders or officers making key executive decisions.

A decision can be called-in by the chair of an Overview and Scrutiny Committee or any four elected members. This will delay the decision for at least ten working days before the relevant Overview and Scrutiny Committee must meet. They can then decide to either refer the matter back to the decision-maker for reconsideration or take no further action.
