Our Objective – To ensure that we consider biodiversity in exercising all of its regulatory functions.

Natural Choice White Paper:

a) Reform the planning system to:

  • Take a strategic approach to plan for nature within and across local areas;
  • To guide development to the best locations, encourage greener designs and enhance natural networks;
  • Retain protection and improvement of the natural environment as core objectives of the planning system;
  • Establish a new, voluntary approach to biodiversity offsets and test our approach in pilot areas.

b) Work with LA partnerships to identify and address barriers to using Green Infrastructure to promote sustainable growth and share lessons learnt.

c) ‘Local Green Area’ Designations will give local people opportunity to protect green space.

d) Work with local authorities to establish ‘Quiet Areas’ so that people living in cities can benefit from access to areas of relative quiet for relaxation and contemplation.
