Why was the bridge closed to traffic after Christmas rather than it being on 2 way signals?
Significant amount of debris was trapped under the bridge from the post new year flooding and that needed removing at the earliest opportunity. Essential repairs to the scaffold had to be undertaken and inspections to make sure it was safe for operations to continue.
