How can physical and/or medical needs be met at whole school level?

Designated Leadership/SENCo

There is a designated lead for supporting physical and medical needs in school who is responsible for:   

Providing support and guidance to all staff around physical and/or medical needs
Being one point of contact for external support services, e.g. Integrated Disability Service Complex Needs and Physical Disability Team, health professionals and providers of specialist equipment
Ensuring the maintenance and effective use of specialist equipment, ICT and other resources 
Engaging parents in supporting young people’s physical and/or medical needs 
Maintaining awareness of relevant research and policy updates in this area
Auditing practice in school 
Identifying the potential risk factors within the vulnerable groups in school 
Considering exam arrangements, as appropriate.
