How my application is assessed
Your details will come to our Blue Badge Team whether you apply online or complete a paper application form. Your application will be reviewed against the eligibility criteria to determine whether you are eligible for a badge or not.
We will aim to process applications as quickly as possible, but please allow up to 12 weeks for processing. This includes re-applications.
You can speed this process up by ensuring you supply all the correct documentation with your initial application. Please ensure your documents are in date and legible.
Assessments
Further assessments are undertaken by an expert assessor.
A decision will initially be made by reviewing the supporting evidence provided with the application.
It may be necessary for one of our expert assessors to talk with you regarding your disability. This could be over the phone or in person; you will be notified if this is necessary (please do not visit the assessment centre without a prior appointment).
The timescales for this process will vary but will usually take between 4 to 12 weeks from application. The outcome may or may not result in a Blue Badge being awarded.
- Face-to-face and video assessments may not be suitable for all applicants and are at the discretion of the expert assessor.
- Face-to-face assessments will take up to 10 – 15 minutes and will take place outdoors (in most weathers).
- Please wear appropriate footwear and waterproofs coats/hats to walk outdoors. If you feel that you cannot walk outdoors in most weathers, please call to rearrange.
- Please ensure you thoroughly read any guidance provided for video and face-to-face assessments.
Face-to-face assessments will take place at: Millbrook Healthcare, Site B, Leofric Business Park, Progress Close, Binley, CV3 2TF.
If you cannot attend the assessment time arranged, please let us know as soon as possible. If you do not attend the assessment however, it will be assumed that you no longer wish to continue with your application, and it will be cancelled.
