Assessment Identification and Monitoring
Teachers to consider the following:
- Are parents advised to discuss and initial concerns regarding their child’s hearing with their GP? (This may result in a referral for assessment of the young person’s hearing)
- Is recent assessment information used to gain a better understanding of an individual young person’s hearing impairment and to identify whether it is a barrier to their learning in the classroom?
- Are the implications of the young person’s hearing impairment, as well as any aids that the young person requires, included in their One page profile?
- Are there any targets/outcomes that young people with physical and/or medical needs working towards?
- Are any changes in hearing recognised and is further advice gained when appropriate?
- Are young people involved in the development and evaluation of any sensory support strategies in class?
