Assessment Identification and Monitoring
Teachers to consider the following:
- Are parents with any concerns regarding their child’s vision advised to take the young person for an eye test at any high street optician?
- Is recent assessment information used to gain a better understanding of the young person’s visual needs and to identify whether they are a barrier to their learning in the classroom?
- Are the implications of the young person’s visual impairment, as well as any treatments that the young person has received, included in their One page profile?
- Are any changes in vision recognised and is further advice gained when appropriate?
- Are young people involved in the development and evaluation of any sensory support strategies in class?
